Band Biography

In the summer of 2023, On the Side was born out of the combined vision of Donnie Bowles (guitar/vocals) and Steve "Sleeves Levine" Davis (lead vocals/harmonica).  These two musicians, with an all-consuming desire to perform rock and roll that is fun to play, dance, and listen to, searched high and low for extremely talented professionals who shared that same passion for entertaining music.

 

Donnie and Sleeves eventually hit the jackpot in the fall of 2024, as the line-up solidified behind the rhythm section of Rocky Rush (Bass ) and Roger Baldwin (drums).  Bob Randolph completed the band with his exceptional guitar and keyboard skills.

Injuries and illness took a toll on the line-up in 2025 and the band has had to use a variety of professional drummers and guitar players during the year. The band continues to use these talented individuals to ensure the band can fulfill its obligations even during unforseen emergencies.  We want to give a shout out to those excellent musicians. Guitars: Gene Dean, Keven James Hoffman, Randy Hurst & Greg Viers.  Drummers: Doug McNeely, John Newcombe, Scottie McDevit, and Dave DiTommaso. ​
